A strong demonstration of the company’s commitment to its growing user-base in the region.
Oslo, Norway, June 7th, 2016 – Videxio, a leading cloud video service provider, today announced the expansion of its global video network with Points of Presence (PoPs) in Canada, delivered through Q9, a leading datacenter provider.
Video calls are especially sensitive to network disruptions. To ensure great coverage and hence top quality, Videxio operates a network of datacenters called PoPs - or Points of Presence. Building presence in Canada in the Q9 datacenters will be the latest addition to the Videxio network, which serves users in more than 190 countries around the world. Local presence will ensure better quality and reliability for customers based in Canada. It also addresses privacy regulations, which stipulate that communication by video must be kept within Canadian borders for all intra-country communication.
“Business organizations continue to increase their reliance on cloud services and data centre connectivity to these services. Q9 is a natural fit for customers operating in this hybrid cloud environment with 6 rock-solid data centres across Canada offering 100% uptime SLAs and a broad set of carrier-neutral cloud interconnections through its Cloud Connect partner program,” said Strahan McCarten, SVP Product Management and Strategy.
“We have seen increasing sensitivity from our Canadian customers and partners to Canadian privacy and security regulations and the US Patriot Act, so choosing a Canadian provider like Q9 was a natural choice. As a Norwegian-based company, we are used to strict regulations through the EU data protection program. In response to this concern, we saw it as a natural move to provide presence in Canada, which ensures that all video traffic stays in Canada.
Karl Hantho, President, Videxio Americas
The Videxio services are hosted in carrier neutral datacenters such as Equinix, Telx, IBM Softlayer and Q9, which provide peering into thousands of network carriers and network providers. To ensure the best possible quality and reliability for video communication, Videxio inter-connect these datacenters with a Quality of Service backbone provided by top IP backbone providers such as Cogent and Tata. The new presence in Canada will be rolled out in early Q3 2016.
